A Social Switch for 2017’s #GivingTuesday
#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. As a communications agency, we’ve watched in admiration as the #GivingTuesday movement has taken hold and resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars donated in the past five years — and we’ve eagerly participated ourselves.
For 2017, we’re going to switch things up a bit. At PartnersCreative, we strive to tell stories and communicate in ways that are relevant, surprising, emotional and memorable. Our previous #GivingTuesday endeavors have sought to use our expertise to help nonprofits tell their stories — and amplify their causes, recruit volunteers and promote events — to larger audiences through Google Ad Grants. This year we aim to help three nonprofits by providing social media training instead, so they can help themselves immediately and into the future. After all, #GivingTuesday itself is largely a social movement.
Once mostly just for fun, social media is now a critical part of the way people in today’s evolving, digital-centric world communicate. It’s also a key part of how work gets done, from connecting audiences and building brands to discovering new trends and ushering more traffic. And that’s not just for us marketing agencies, it’s the trend across all industries, from corporations to governments.
We have always sought to use #GivingTuesday to greater strengthen nonprofits’ voices, thus increasing their impacts. This year’s effort in the form of a social media training will be tailored to the three selected nonprofits and focus on myriad topics depending on their areas of greatest need — from organic content and editorial calendars to boosted posts and target audiences.
So if you work at a nonprofit, or you know someone who does who would love a one-on-one social media consultation, this is our call for applications.* We look forward to working with three passionate people and their nonprofits.
*This offer is available to any U.S. IRS-registered nonprofit organization. An individual may only enter one nonprofit, but a nonprofit can be entered into this sweepstakes by any number of different individuals. On December 15, 2017, three eligible nonprofits will be chosen at random from all entries received. Winners will be announced Monday, December 18.
